Evie's National Debut!!

Hi Friends (:

I am so overwhelmed with JOY and excitement to tell you that Evie's story comes out TODAY in Spirit Magazine, the Southwest Airlines in flight magazine across the nation! Yes, Evie will be tucked into the back of airplane seats across the USA.

You can read the article online here: http://spiritmag.com/features/article/holding_onto_hope/
at the bottom of the article you can click "read complete article" and it will show you the exact thing that was printed in the magazine. How do you get a magazine... fly southwest?? We have a few copies that we're distributing to Evie's doctors and family (:

A BIG SPECIAL THANKS to Brian and Sara, who worked so hard to take the photos and write the article. They spent hours and hours caring about us enough to put this wonderful story together. Love you guys!

And love you friends! Enjoy!!

Isaiah 40:28-31
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

  6. Lindsey, I doubt you remember me from high school, but I just wanted to say that the article (Spencer posted it on the MW reunion FB page) was so touching and beautifully written. I'm so sorry your family has had to go through such difficult times, but Evie is a beautiful girl and fortunate to have such a loving family. I will be thinking about all of you!

  9. Wow, that is such a wonderful article! It brought tears to my eyes more than once. I must say...reading Evie's story now, this time being a mom myself....I feel like I finally "get it". I didn't know what a mother's love for her child felt like until now. And it makes me cry just THINKING about what you went through. You are an absolutely amazing woman, Lindsey. God bless your beautiful girl and the miracle of her life! :)

  13. As a first time flyer on SouthWest, I read your article yesterday. As a mother of 3, you can imagine how much I cried as I read about you and your family. I immediately wrote down your blog address to find out the latest. Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule and printing such an amazing story. I wish you and your family well. 14. My husband flew Southwest this morning and came home tonight. When he arrived, he pulled out the Spirit magazine and told me to read your story. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I know if I wasn't he would have never stopped to read it. My heart breaks for the things you and your family have endured but I am so overjoyed because God is always faithful. One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11 because of it's amazing promise. God never lets us down and I love Him for that.

  15. I read the article in Spirit yesterday on a flight it was a wonderful story of love, strength, and hope. I have been unable to have a child but have dedicated my life to helping improve the lives of children as a teacher. I truly believe that children are our lesson from God about how all that really maters in this world is love and the joy it brings when you love and embrace everone, everything, and everyday unconditionally. Thank you for sharing your story.

  16. I read about Evie on a flight last night. Thanks for sharing how she's changed your life! One of my sons (who slept on my lap at the time)has had 12 ear operations so far and is missing his middle ear bone, so when I read this article it was such a wonderful reminder how God works miracles every day in our lives.

    I'm so happy she's doing well! :)

  21. I read about your blog while flying home on Southwest today. I sobbed as my soon to be two year old climbed all over me and kept trying to rip the magazine away :) You are truly an inspiration and your story is a testament to His love and grace!!! You and your family reflect Christ's power and love and it is now "national news". He uses our stories in such beautiful and strange ways. I was blessed to find your article today and I will be following on your journey, praying and rooting for your family from now on! Thank you for having the courage to share...

  22. I am a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines and read about Evie on my commute to work today from Little Rock to Dallas. I wrote down your blog address and was anxious to get to my overnight so I could read all about little Miss Evie. So here I am in Midland, TX on my overnight and am going to start at the beginning of your blog. I love the picture of Evie on the blog, she is beautiful. I will keep your sweet family in my prayers.

  24. I truly was inspired by your daughter's story. I was flying home from Burbank visiting family and friends and the article in the Spirit Magazine caught my eye. I typically don't read articles on the airplane but i couldn't put it down. I had to fight back the tears while reading it. The strength you, your family and Evie has is amazing.

I lost my father, who was my best friend to cancer last year and it was great to know that with faith and a good support that you can overcome some of the hardest things you would ever image experiencing. I look forward to your continue post and updates on your family. Thank you for sharing your story.

  25. I was on a SW plane this weekend with my 1 year old daughter. While she was playing in my mom's lap (a small break for me - what a treat!), I picked up Spirit. The picture of your beautiful sling drew me in - I love it! Then I started reading....had to stick it in my bag to read later so I didn't start bawling on the plane. I gave my daughter a quick hug and kiss and said a prayer for you guys. Thanks so much for sharing your story, your strength, and your faith!

  28. Like many of the replies above have said, I'm not one to normally read the magazines on airplanes. But I am SO GLAD I read this month's Spirit magazine! Thank you for such a beautiful and inspiring story (and for making me cry at 0700!). I am a labor and delivery nurse and I have delivered a few babies with known birth defects, but I always wonder what happens to them after they leave the hospital. Thank you for sharing "the after" story :) I am so exited to continue reading your blog!

Happy early birthday to Evie Jayne!! I feel blessed to have a birthday so close to someone so obviously touched by God (mine is the 14th). Good luck to John in his nursing career-- we definitely need his help and wonderful caring nature in our field. God bless you and your family... And thank you for sharing!!

  30. I just returned home from a family vacation and I read your daughter Evie's story on the flight home from Denver to Kansas City and I was just balling on the plane sitting next to my husband and son. I had tears of sadness, tears of joy and tears of happiness for you and your family. I am a mother of a very energetic 19 month old boy named Liam and also expecting our second child in mid-January. Being a Christian mother, I just felt so connected to you so "thank you" for sharing your families heartfelt story with me! We will pray for you darling sweet Evie!

  31. I'm a 55 year old retired Army officer. I cried on board a flight recently. It's not the suffering of Evie that made me cry but, her strength and the fight in her. My son is 25 years old now and at 10 months he was suffering and struggling to see another day.
Evie has yet to bring a lot of joy to your family and this world.
Human body is an amazing creation that is full of pleasant surprises just like it's Creator.
    God bless.

  33. I never even pull the magazine out of the seat back pocket when I fly but I am so glad I did though. My husband was holding our six month old son while I was reading your story and I was bawling. As soon as I was done I held my son so he could read your story. We were so touched and feel so blessed to have read your story. God bless your family.

  34. I just read the article and looked up your blog. As a mother of two children the same age as yours I was very moved by your families story. If I wasn't sure before if miracles existed, I am now.
